Microscopes

Designed specifically for use with compact CCD video cameras, the VZM Video Zoom Microscopes screw directly to C-mount camera heads. The cylindrical microscope head is 40 mm in diameter. A smooth parfocal zoom allows the user to vary magnification quickly without re-focusing during observation.

The units can be mounted in a wide variety of configurations using modular mounting components or they can be built into specific equipment. The VZM microscopes have a compact design, an economical price, and display a true erect image.

Tubing

Tygon(R) 2075 specialty thermoplastic medical tubing has no plasticizers and offers low sorption and adsorption. There is virtually no absorption of key fluid constituents into the tubing material or fluid adsorption onto the tubing walls. As a result, fluid alteration and loss is limited. Uses include endoscopy, administration of chemotherapy agents, or other applications for circulating blood or body fluids. In endoscopic devices, the tubing's smooth, non-wetting surface prevents the formation of fluid "pockets" assuring complete delivery of irrigation fluid volume.

Foam

Polydamp(R) Melamine Foam (PMF) is a lightweight acoustical thermal insulation product for aircraft, aerospace, marine, and medical applications where low flame spread and minimal smoke generation is a requirement. PMF does not drip when ignited and stops burning when the ignition source is removed. The material produces minimal flame and smoke, offers heat resistance up to 375F, and is stable in harsh environments.

Transducers

Series 230 linear-displacement transducers accurately measure absolute position in a miniature package. With an outer diameter of 0.375 inches and maximum non-linearity of 0.25%, these ac LVDTs are available in eight separate displacement ranges from 0.01 to 2.00 inches. The small size of the coils combined with the ultra-light core make these sensors suitable for applications requiring high accelerations or which are easily affected by the mass of the sensing element. Applications include spool-valve displacement, medical equipment, gauging fixtures, and other industrial applications requiring a precision absolute-displacement measurement.

Rubber parts

Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) parts and seals are offered with fast turnaround and competitive prices, depending on the complexity of the part. The seals are produced in a microprocessor-based, closed-loop system. The process minimizes raw-material contamination by eliminating exposure to the environment. Virtually any type of silicone part or seal is available in a durometer range of 20 to 70 Shore A, including O-rings, gaskets, face seals, housing seals, filter seals, and custom shapes. Applications include the medical and electronics industries.

Apple Rubber Products Inc., 310 Erie St., Lancaster, NY 14086.

Actuator

In most applications a limited-angle dc rotary actuator acts as a control drive, saving customer costs by eliminating the need for a separate control drive system. The size 34 motor is configured for applications requiring fast operation. Motion is limited to 45 degrees, making it suitable for medical devices requiring dependable valve regulation or industrial processing equipment involving on/off switches.

Dyna-Thred process

The Dyna-Thred process can now be used to process tiny "O" size screws for self-locking purposes. The breakthrough came when company engineers had to develop a technique that used a titanium screw for an "in-the-body" piece of medical apparatus. The Dyna-Thred process was selected because it provides self-locking capability without the addition of extraneous materials such as nylon or polyester. The micro Dyna-Thred part has temperature characteristics of -400 to 1,200F and reusability per IFI 124 and MIL F-8961.
