Designed for watching digital video on the go, the newest V Series portable video players have a 3.5-inch TFT LCD and extended battery life. For power management functions, the gigabeat relies on Freescale Semiconductor's MC13883 power management Integrated Circuit (IC). The mixed-signal chip integrates a lithium-ion battery charger with CEA-936 car kit interfacing support and a USB On-the-Go (OTG) transceiver. In addition to charging lithium-ion batteries through a USB connector, the IC has overvoltage protection for faults from high-voltage charging sources.
