MedtechWomen is teaming up with Informa Markets Engineering West and its show brands (Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West, WestPackAutomation Technology Expo (ATX) WestDesign & Manufacturing (D&M) West, and Plastec West) to highlight women leaders in the medical device and diagnostics industry. The shows are scheduled to take place in person August 10-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

MedtechWomen is a group of women who came together to explore real-world solutions to the most challenging issues facing the industry, holding the inaugural MedtechVision conference in September 2011. Founders and organizing members of MedtechWomen include medtech business leaders, financial investors, researchers, physicians, and experts in new product commercialization.

MedtechWomen will sponsor the upcoming Informa Markets Engineering West conference session, "AI Has Changed Go To Market Strategy: 4 Steps for Better Product Adoption," taking place during the Design. Engineer. Build. conference (formerly known as the MD&M West Conference). Carla Leibowitz, chief business development officer for Paige, will speak during the session, sharing her extensive experience successfully crafting partnerships at the intersection of healthcare and AI and bringing together technologists, clinicians, and product experts to build and study AI-based products in the healthcare space. Before joining Paige, Leibowitz managed corporate development and strategy at Arterys, the first company to achieve FDA clearances for several products that combine cloud computing and artificial intelligence. The session will address the following topics:

  • Product design in the interaction between clinicians and AI.

  • Tackling interoperability issues in a fragmented health IT market.

  • Approaches to regulatory authorizations for SAMD

  • How partnerships play key roles in building ecosystems and getting this new class of products to the market.

"On behalf of our team at MedtechWomen, we could not be more excited to be a part of Informa Markets Engineering in August, particularly to be the sole sponsor of the AI Market Strategy session led by Carla," said Lynette Kozuma, executive director at MedtechWomen, in a news release. "Both the event and session align perfectly with our vision, which is dedicated to amplifying the groundbreaking progress women are making in the medtech industry while simultaneously bringing industry leaders and policymakers together to uncover new solutions to the industry's most challenging obstacles. Carla and her team are doing just that—we encourage everyone to tune into this important session."

Added Hayley Haggarty, group event director, Informa Markets Engineering West: "Organizations like MedtechWomen that are purely dedicated to advancing diversity and inclusion in the medtech industry are not only mission-critical to ideating technology-driven solutions to today's most pressing challenges but improving patient care in the long run. We are proud to announce our partnership and bring the amazing work they've accomplished to the forefront."
