Hysteresis magnetic couplings transmit torque through a magnetic field produced between two non-contacting components. The coupling disengages upon overload without abrasion and jerks, and transmitted torque remains at the rated torque level. Available in shaft-to-shaft, disk, or shaft-flange styles, the hysteresis line transmits torque from 0.1 Nm (0.9 inch-lbs) on 3-mm (0.125-inch) to 40-mm (1.5-inch) shafts. Couplings are targeted at packaging applications that require smooth torque transmission with servo-quality overload protection such as bottle capping.
