Carlsbad, CA--Newcomer di/dt Inc. announced yesterday what it says is an industry first-surface-mount dc/dc converters in quarter-brick size (2.3 x 1.45 x 0.26 inches). The new Q(double dot)(TM) Series is also available in through-hole pinout.

These 24 and 48V input converters are aimed at telecom, datacom, and wireless applications and come in 25 and 35A versions. Typical efficiency is given as 90%. As to thermal performance, for example, at 70C with 200 linear ft/min airflow, the 35A module is said to deliver in excess of 20A at 3.3V with no heatsink required.

The 48V input modules have an operating input range of 36 to 75V and the 24V input modules operate from input voltages of 18 to 36V. Both versions have an input/output isolation of 2,000V and are available in five standard output voltages from 1.5 to 3.3 Vout.
