At a Glance

  • The next generation of AI will reshape every software category and every business.
  • AI’s integration at the edge marks a substantial advancement in military operations.
  • The risk of something seriously dangerous happening because of AI will come in five to 10 years.

Few topics come with such mixed feelings as AI. Some believe it’s a wicket genie that has unfortunately escaped the safety of the lamp. Others believe AI will open doors that can solve major human problems, from hunger to war. Will AI eliminate millions of jobs, or will it merely take away jobs that are not fit for human dignity – such as sales phone rooms.

Here are some quotes about AI from AI Disrupter,  BrainyQuote, Touchdown PR, and Bernard Marr & Co.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI

AI is going to change the world more than anything in the history of humanity. More than electricity.

Javed Hasan, CEO and co-founder of Lineaje

To meet modern business demands, developers often rely on open-source components to build AI-powered applications. It’s easy to see why. Open source is quick and easily accessible. AI applications likely now comprise a significant portion of organizations’ software supply chains.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft

This next generation of AI will reshape every software category and every business, including our own. Although this new era promises great opportunity, it demands even greater responsibility from companies like ours.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX

The pace of progress in artificial intelligence (I’m not referring to narrow AI) is incredibly fast. Unless you have direct exposure to groups like Deepmind, you have no idea how fast—it is growing at a pace close to exponential. The risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five-year time frame. 10 years at most.

Is AI on the brink of changing everything?

Anthony Verna, SVP and GM of Cubic DTECH Mission Solutions

In the ever-evolving landscape of modern warfare, the role artificial intelligence places in dictating the trajectory of military operations must be emphasized. As we continue to see the complexities of an AI-accelerated battlespace intensify, AI combined with Machine Learning and advanced data processing have become indispensable to ensure the success of critical missions.

It's also essential to recognize how vital next-generation tactical edge-based technologies are in providing decision advantage and how AI’s integration at the edge marks substantial advancement in military operations. The capability to process and interpret data instantaneously at the point of collection offers commanders prompt, actionable insights, facilitating rapid and well-informed decisions.

Stephen Hawking, scientist

Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history. Unfortunately, it might also be the last, unless we learn how to avoid the risks.

Andrew Ng, computer scientist

It is difficult to think of a major industry that AI will not transform. This includes healthcare, education, transportation, retail, communications, and agriculture. There are surprisingly clear paths for AI to make a big difference in all of these industries.

Ray Kurzweil, computer scientist

Artificial intelligence will reach human levels by around 2029. Follow that out further to, say, 2045, we will have multiplied the intelligence, the human biological machine intelligence of our civilization a billion-fold.

Larry Page, co-founder of Google

Artificial intelligence would be the ultimate version of Google. The ultimate search engine that would understand everything on the web. It would understand exactly what you wanted, and it would give you the right thing. We’re nowhere near doing that now. However, we can get incrementally closer to that, and that is basically what we work on.

Eliezer Yudkowsky, computer scientist

Anything that could give rise to smarter-than-human intelligence—in the form of Artificial Intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, or neuroscience-based human intelligence enhancement – wins hands down beyond contest as doing the most to change the world. Nothing else is even in the same league.
