While engineers are often considered heads-down people involved in the details of solving a vexing design or other engineering-related issue, they also have their thoughts and opinions on broader social and political issues. On Tuesday, like the rest of the US, engineers will get their opportunity to help decide the fate of the country for the next four years in the presidential election.

Both candidates, Republican and former president Donald Trump and Democratic and current Vice President Kamala Harris, have given their stance on various issues of particular interest to engineers, such as the CHIPS Act, artificial intelligence, and the future of the US automotive industry. In recent weeks, Design News has published numerous articles on these topics.

If you haven’t voted yet, or even if you already have, check out these articles analyzing the candidates’ positions on key issues. Also, be sure to check out our post-election coverage.
