Over on Instructables I recently found an article on the world’s smallest workshop.  Steliart lives in Cyprus, likes to do woodworking, and doesn’t have much space.  In fact, he only has an outdoor covered parking spot with a small storage area.  When designing his workshop it had to be small, moveable, and securable in addition to useful.  I think he came up with a pretty good solution.

The workbench is 59″ x 20″ and houses a drill press, disk sander (made from a hand drill), table saw (made from a circular saw), router and table, and a jig saw mounted to the bottom of the table to serve as a sort of band saw.  The router sits on top of an automotive scissors jack, which is how its height is adjusted.

For accessories he has both a miter and crosscut sled and some table extensions for longer pieces.  There is also a design for an add-on lathe, which has not been constructed yet.

I think the best part of the whole thing is the roll-around tool cabinet that he has built.  It takes 7 square feet of wall space yet stores 26 square feet of tools.  If you’re a woodworker with limited space maybe you can find some good ideas here.
