Socket your QFN40 using Extreme Temperature Socket with Superior Electrical Performance
October 26, 2010
IronwoodElectronics's QFNSocket addresses high performance requirements for 0.4 mm pitchdevices - SBT-QFN-4008. The contactor is a stampedspring pin with 34 gm actuation force per pin and cycle life of100,000 insertions. The self inductance of the contactor is 1 nH, insertionloss of <1 dB at 7 GHz and capacitance 0.4pF. The current capacity of eachcontactor is 2.5A. Socket temperature range is -55 to +155C. Socket alsofeatures an IC guide for precise QFN edge alignment. The specific configurationof the package to be tested in the SBT-QFN-4008 is QFN, 5x5 mm body size and0.4 mm pitch. To use, drop IC into the socket, place floating compressionplate, swivel the lid, and apply down force using compression screw.
These socket product lines have been designed to the JEDEC STD. MO-220 and areavailable for all standard configurations. Custom designs are also available.SBT-QFN-4008 socket features a unique contact design with outside spring andflat etched plungers that provide a robust solution for Burn-in & Testapplications including excellent electrical signal integrity to meet therequirements of today's demanding analog, digital, RF, Bluetooth and telecomapplications. The socket is mounted using supplied hardware on the target PCBwith no soldering, and uses smallest footprint in the industry. The smallestfootprint allows inductors, resistors and decoupling capacitors to be placedvery close to the device for impedance tuning. The socket also incorporates anew quick insertion method so that ICs can be changed out quickly.
