Vehicle electrification is transforming the automotive industry, and consumers are increasingly demanding vehicles that can charge faster and drive farther. As a result, engineers are being challenged to design compact, lightweight automotive systems without compromising vehicle performance. Using TI’s new automotive GaN FETs can help reduce the size of electric vehicle (EV) onboard chargers and DC/DC converters by as much as 50% compared to existing Si or SiC solutions.

In other news, Exact Metrology and PolyScan XL are showcasing scanners that are motionless by design during the inspection process. Their unique calibration avoids the need for data alignment or sticker targets, and multiple baselines increase accuracy when measuring points.

Other news bits of potential interest include LoRaWAN for IoT, waterproof air quality sensors, RISC-V IDE improvements, shrinking EMC filters, DARPA and chip design tools, air conveyor systems that convert standard pipes, and more.
