Thankgiving and Christmas are among the busiest travel times of the year, with millions of Americans crowding into planes, trains, buses, and of course their own vehicles to visit relatives or friends. For drivers, the long-time practice of checking maps is a distant memory. The more recent use of portable navigation devices has been largely replaced by navigation apps on smartphones.
