This week’s supplier news is full of interesting innovations and applications. Did you know there is a 7th axis? Typically, this refers to an external axis added to a robotic system, typically an arm. The 7th axis helps parts be moved along a linear path. It is designed to greatly reduce vibration caused as part are rotated 180 degrees.

Germany-based Igus now has a 7th axis system. It provides a complete platform for integration into many existing robotic lines.

Other new products in this week’s guide include automotive dynamic hand-gesture controls. Automakers predict driver safety will improve when gesture and proximity sensing replace knobs and touch screens for infotainment, phone, side mirror, climate, trunk, sunroof, and reading lamp controls.

Or consider a recent product advancement in the adoption of video-enhanced tech for smartphones and mobile devices by Imint’s partnership with chipmaker MediaTek. The video enhancement technology is already leveraged by over 250+-million smartphones worldwide and is increasingly used in other camera-based products such as modular cameras, bodycams, drones, and more.
