Design Excellence Road Show Coming to Town Near You
October 3, 2013
Designers and manufacturers in 11 US cities will have an opportunity to learn about the latest version of SolidWorks 3D design software and discuss leading-edge technologies at the Fisher/Unitech Design Excellence Forum.
The fun kicks off in Kansas City, Kan., and travels across the Midwest before concluding in the Northeast at the end of the month.
Charles Hess, president and CEO of Fisher/Unitech (which resells SolidWorks software and Stratasys 3D printers), told us the forum will offer free training in the new SolidWorks 2014 software, as well as "a series of presentations focusing on how to achieve excellence in manufacturing utilizing the most popular and current technologies in the industry."
The forum -- the first of its kind from Fisher/Unitech -- is designed to communicate "what we think are the industry's best practices and the industry's most promising technology for product development to the executives, middle management, and end users within discrete manufacturing sector," he said.
The event will kick off with a morning keynote session by a SolidWorks executive, followed by training in SolidWorks 2014, lunch, and a series of afternoon sessions in three technology tracks that span nine topics. A technical track will cover technical methods for improving the use of SolidWorks. A solution track will cover topics and trends in 3D manufacturing for additive manufacturing, product lifecycle management, product data management, and simulation. The third track will present topics in electronic design automation, shop floor communication, and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).
Fisher/Unitech timed the road show to coincide with the release of SolidWorks 14, which includes performance and large assembly-management enhancements, as well as to encourage fourth-quarter investments in new technology, Hess said.
The event is free but requires prior registration. Sponsors include Hewlett-Packard, SolidCAM, Dassault Systemes, Stratasys, and Aras Corp.
