Recent research from the UK-based Farnell InOne indicates only 12 percent of design engineers, buyers and MRO engineers are fully RoHS compliant in readiness for the July 1, 2006 deadline. While 37 percent revealed they are "close" to becoming compliant, a further 28 percent confessed they have only just started to become compliant. Gary Nevison, Farnell InOne's head of product market strategy for Europe and Asia Pacific, notes, "It is clear that as the deadline rapidly approaches, the majority of design engineers are still not completely ready and are going to need a lot of support and hand-holding in the run up to the deadline."
