Tesla Motors’ long-awaited Model 3 sedan is expected by many to transform the electric car landscape by bringing costs down to mainstream buyers. Key enabling technologies include the Model 3’s battery pack, drive motors, and controlling electronics.
In this Design News webinar, noted automotive engineers Sandy Munro and Mark Ellis of Munro & Associates will walk listeners through a teardown of the Model 3 battery. They will discuss the pack’s design, construction, cooling system, and cell technology, among other key areas. Using photos and technical descriptions of virtually every component, they will provide a detailed look at the Model 3’s energy source, and will explain how it compares to its closest competitors, the Chevy Bolt and BMW i3.
