The 64-bit RIS-Controller microprocessors from IDT offer large internal and external data bandwidth and rapid interrupt response. These features target the microprocessors for use in communications applications such as Layer 3 switches and routers, xDSL DSLAMs, and firewall systems. Based on the RISCore4000TM architecture and the MIPS III instruction set, the IDT RC64474TM and IDT RC64475TM contain a 64-bit RISC CPU.

PFC-compatible, second-generation dc-dc converter modules from Vicor are available in 24 and 28V outputs, both at 600W. With a nominal input of 375V, the modules offer an input range of 250 to 425V dc. Using the company's second-generation power processing, control, and packaging technologies, these products achieve higher performance, lower profile, reduced part counts, and a baseplate operating temperature of up to 100C, the company says.

The 25LC640 and 25AA640 serial EEPROMs from Microchip are rated to 64K. The 8-lead TSSOP package version offers a 50% board space reduction over standard SOICs, the company says. Also available in PDIP and 150-mil SOIC packages, these devices provide low operating voltage of 1.8V, fast write cycle operation of 5 ms, and fast clock speed of 3 MHz at 5V.

CR Series connectors from Hirschmann accommodate three leads and the protective earth lead in a compact housing. This permits the use of sheathed cables with an outside diameter of 5 to 11 mm and leads with a cross-section of 0.5 to 0.75 mm2.
