Nvidia & Renovo's All-Electric Supercar Is Tech-Packed

In terms of electronics shows, CES is a classic, so it’s perhaps unsurprising that graphics firm Nvidia would team up with carmaker Renovo Motors Inc. to release a stunning old-school-looking American supercar, with a twist. That twist? It’s all-electric and the technology under the hood is mind blowing.

Boasting a whopping 500 HP, the Coupe sports a cockpit concept which shows off the Nvidia Drive Studio software, powered by the firm’s new Tegra X1 mobile “super chip,” which packs over one teraflops of computing power. That’s thanks to the X1’s 256-core Maxwell architecture GPU.

Wondering why you need that in a car? Well, in the Coupe, it serves to power an all-digital instrument cluster and 11.6-inch touchscreen in the center stack, allowing for 3D gauges and controls which can instantly reconfigure to appear to be made of different materials.

Worried that the all-electric vehicle won’t pack the punch you’re looking for? Renovo says the car is powered by a patent-pending 740V lithium-ion battery pack, which feeds power to its twin sequential axial flux motors that produce more than 500 HP and 1,000 ft-lbs of torque.

The firm claims all that power is available immediately from a complete stop in just 37 milliseconds, and the car is said to be able to go from 0-60 MPH time in less than 3.4 seconds, making it the quickest production rear-wheel drive electric vehicle in the world.

To match the sexy innards, the car’s chassis is also stunning; a factory-modified Shelby CSX9000.
