General Motors Corp. will serve as host for this year's Automotive Manufacturing Conference and Exposition (AMCE) 2000, in conjunction with the Engineering Society (ESD) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Their theme, "Manufacturing @ Web Speed," will represent today's important demand for electronic commerce in manufacturing. GM's manufacturing operations will serve as model for innovative approaches to remaining competitive in problem solving, system design, and productivity. Some primary tracks for the program include:
E-development
Integrated supply chain
E-factory
Lean enterprise
Topics will range from collaborative engineering, rapid prototyping, and virtual development to e-learning, e-maintenance, and staying lean in an e-world. Approximately 70 companies are expected to offer hands-on demonstrations of their systems, hardware, software, and services. For a list of exhibitors or other show information, go to www.sae.org/calendar/amc00/index. While you're waiting for your browser to open, here's a preview of what you'll see at the show.

Marquee control
The ALPHA ActiveX Marquee Control was developed to simplify integration of LED marquees into new and existing applications that are operating with HMIs such as Wonderware(R), RSView(TM), GE Cimplicity(R), Intellution(R), and others throughout the automotive, industrial automation, and material handling industries. The unit collects mission-critical, real-time production information from the HMI's message database, tags, and variable data, and disseminates that information to manufacturing teams and supervisors via ALPHA LED displays and marquees.
