General Motors has announced that the Chevy Volt will cost $41,000. That means the Volt will run $33,500 after you subtract the $7,500 federal tax credit.

By comparison, Nissan’s Leaf will cost $32,780. With the $7,500 tax credit, it dips to $25,280 out of pocket.

If those prices still sound too high, you can always consider leasing. The Volt’s lease price will be $350 a month with a $2,500 deposit, according to the Christian Science Monitor. The Leaf’s lease deal will be $349 a month, with $1,999 up front.

So which one would you choose, Volt or Leaf? Why? And would you lease or buy?

            Or do you prefer neither?
