If you thought 2021 was an exciting year for electric vehicles (EVs), just wait until you see what is arriving next year! Aside from the couple dozen EVs that are on today’s market from the usual players (Tesla, Nissan, Chevrolet, BMW, Audi, and VW), there is a whole new crop that will be arriving—some from the established players, some from traditional car companies that are moving deeper into the EV space, and several from all new start-ups that are hoping to reprise the Tesla success story.

The variety of new EVs for 2022 is also interesting. The long-awaited electric pickup trucks will finally arrive, led by Ford with its F-150 Lightning and the over-the-top Tesla Cybertruck. There are SUVs, and crossovers, as well as a few traditional sedans as the EV market fills out and becomes more mainstream.

Although we haven’t included every possible electric vehicle that will arrive in 2022, these are the ones that are most likely to hit the ground. A few that we might have included look more likely now in 2023, and to be honest there are a couple that may actually never make it into actual production, not that we would want to have to pick the winners and losers….

Here are 16 EVs for model year 2022 that you will be able to buy as early as the fall of 2021. Some of the companies are taking advance orders, so if you want to be the first on your block, act now!
