The 1990s Sci-Fi movies kicked off with a slew of franchise films. By mid-decade, we saw a stream of amazingly original presentations, including Gattaca, 12 Monkeys, and Mars Attacks! The 90s also introduced movies that would go on to become franchises, including Jurassic Park and Men in Black.
