Rotary encoders
This ERN series of rotary encoders has been expanded for use with electrical drives. This addition is reportedly in response to the need of many electrical drives, which are still supplied by analog servo amplifiers and have no interpolation for encoder signals. Models ERN 1321 and 1326 have been added to the line of models 1381 and 1387. They are compatible with both asynchronous and synchronous drives. Both new types can be used in applications to 120C.

Harmonic drive gear
Size 14 harmonic drive gear with a 30:1 gear ratio is reported to have the lowest gear ratio available for harmonic drive gearing. The compact gear component measures 50 mm in diameter and 29 mm in length. Capabilities include a maximum output speed of 460 rpm, rated torque of 35 inch-lbs, and repeated peak torque of 80 inch-lbs. These gears deliver 2 arc-min positional accuracy and smooth motion. Reportedly, with this low ratio, harmonic drive gearing may now be used in applications where planetary gears might have been used previously, resulting in a reduction in package size while increasing positional accuracy.

Servo repair
When production is interrupted because a key servomotor fails, this company says time and money can be saved with repair. They fix ac and dc servomotors to original performance specifications, reportedly faster than it would take to have a new one shipped from the original manufacturer, and at cost savings. After the repair is completed, motors are tested on a servo drive to assure rated performance. The process includes the motor and all integral components, such as encoder, breaks, Halls, and tachometer.
