The new Anybus X-gateway CANopen from HMS IndustrialNetworks helps systemintegrators to connect existing CANopen networks with new Profinetinstallations. The Anybus X-gateway mounts onto a standard DIN rail and ispowered by 24V industrial power supply. The gateway transfers data from the PLCon the Profinet side to the CANopen devices, while also transferring data fromthe devices on the CANopen side to the PLC on the Profinet side. The CANopenmaster functionality can be configured with any CANopen configuration tool. Upto 126 CANopen slaves can be connected to the gateway using a total of up to128 receive PDOs and 128 transmit PDOs.

The X-gateway functions as an IO device on the Profinetside and is available in two versions: single port Profinet (RT) and 2-portProfinet (IRT). The IRT version complies with Profinet conformance class Cincluding IRT (Isochronous Real Time) functions. The IRT version includes anintegrated 2-port Profinet IRT switch which allows installations in linetopology without the need for expensive external switches.

Typical usage is in factories, where CANopen-basedmachinery needs to be integrated into modern automation systems which are oftenbased on Profinet.
