Servometer's Precision Bellows Welded Assemblies
December 8, 2009
MATERIALS/FASTENING: Servometer®’s craftsmanship and design capabilities can provide precision electrodeposited metal bellows and bellows assemblies for applications where weight, strength, or flexibility is a priority.
Precision welded bellows assemblies are now available from Servometer using either customer furnished end pieces or as complete units. This capability minimizes the risk of damaging the thin, electrodeposited nickel bellows used for novel assemblies such as fluid dampers and miniature pumps.
Assemblies with diameters as small as .187 inch and bellows with walls of .001 inch can be welded to a leak tightness of less than 1 x 10-9 cc He/sec. A wide variety of pressure, stroke, and stiffness combinations are possible through control of wall thickness and number of bellows plies. Pressures of 5000 PSI or higher can also be accommodated by utilizing three-ply bellows, or assemblies with extremely low spring rates (less then 2 lb/inch), can be welded using variable wall thickness techniques.
The exceptional life, extreme sensitivity and high flexibility of our bellows has greatly influenced their usage within the defense, aircraft, laser, medical and aerospace industries, as well as process control instrument manufacturers.
