PEM Captive Panel Screws with MAThread Feature
December 4, 2009
MATERIALS: The PEM® family of captive panel screws feature various types and styles benefiting from patented MAThread® anti-cross threading technology that easily corrects off-angle installations, aligns components, and slides through clogged internal threads. This feature can save time and money by eliminating failures, repairs, scrap, and downtime typically associated with thread damage.
During fastener installation when threads come into contact, the anti-cross threading feature begins to cam over the female thread; the two thread helixes then align perfectly; and fasteners drive quickly and properly without effort.
PEM captive panel screws integrating this unique feature includes self-clinching, flare-mounted, and floating styles with knurled or smooth metal caps or plastic PEM C.A.P.S.TM (colored access panel screws); recessed-head and low-profile panel fastener assemblies; and panel fasteners specially engineered with a low-cost design. All are RoHS-compliant and available in a range of unified and metric thread sizes and in assorted screw lengths.
PEM captive screws install permanently in thin sheets and allow for subsequent access to an assembly. Captive screws remain intact without risk of loosening or falling out and additionally reduce the number of loose parts to be inventoried and handled.
