With their extra jolt of heat, lead-free solder processes can be tough on the engineering plastics used to make connector housings. DSM Engineering Plastics, whose Stanyl nylon 46 resins go into many types of connectors, recently undertook an extensive design of experiments to identify the processing profiles that minimize temperature effects such as "blistering."
