The latest series of elastomers from Teknor Apex lowers the hardness of thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) to a range normally occupied by styrenic block copolymers and other non-crosslinked thermoplastic elastomers. The company's Uniprene 2000 Series comes in durometers of 15, 25, and 35 Shore A, while earlier TPV grades typically bottomed out at 45 Shore A. Though soft, the new Uniprene series has been formulated to preserve some traditional advantages of TPVs, including elevated temperature performance, chemical resistance, and good compression set.
