Imagine that you recently went hiking with your family in a forest near Cloudcroft, New Mexico. On one of your many journeys into the high-desert forest that week, your kids found a mysterious wreckage on an undisturbed side of a small mountain. It looked like the debris field of a weather balloon payload that crashed in the 1940s or 1950s. Could it have been part of the infamous Roswell weather balloon tale from 1947? Or maybe it had something to do with past activities on the nearby White Sands Missile Range. The answer to those question may lie in remembering the events from the late 40’s.
