Reduction of the weight of automotive wiring is critical. Today, the average vehicle has 70-80 lbs of wiring on board. Many vehicles have more than that. And with some vehicles now incorporating more than 100 microcontrollers, the amount of wiring is going to continue to increase. At some point, the auto industry will hit a limit, though. It can't just keep adding wires.
