Samsung is a great company and I have respect for them. My worry and what surprises me a lot is that, why is it that they can not upgrade their previous models or versions of these gadgets instead of designing a new one? Look at the issue of battery replacement, this actually is not environmental friendly and should be keenly looked into. Many people also do not replace these batteries, they generally assume that the gadget is obsolete after which they will go for a newer model.

I agree. These slides are great! I like how the iOpener is used to melt the adhesive from the Samsung Gear so plastic coverings can be removed off easily. The motherboard is pretty impressive with the amount of computing power packaged on the pcb. The design of the electronics pcb along with the plastic housing provides somewhat of an artistry look for the Samsung Gear Fit product. Again, great slides!
The problem with this approach is that it encourages a disposable mentality. How many millions of batteries end up in landfills because they are inside something that is considered disposable; to be replaced by the new model?
I think if manufacturers wanted to be really creative they would figure out a platform they could constantly upgrade--send in your last year's watch, they replace the display and a board or two, put in a new battery and send it back. They have the means to recycle what is left properly. They could also generate streams of repair parts for older models; just sorth them and sell them to willing repair depots.
Minimizing waste and footprint needs to be on everyone's mind.
I have to agree with naperlou on this one. In devices like these, having a replaceable battery would complicate the design. Secondly, people don't replace the batteries even if they are worn-out. They just have a peace of mind that they are replaceable, but when the actual time of replacing the battery comes, there are so many alternatives available and people tend to switch to them rather than replacing the batteries. I myself have a lot of such out-dated devices in my home which are useless now as the technology grew. This shows how quickly our technology is developing and it doesn't let people rely on a single device.
