@Warren. Thanks. In the "output pane" at tha bottom of the start proyect pane, the "lpf" files are not shown,. However, they are shown in the "file list" pane. Why is that? are they generated automatically?
Lattice Nano "Environment Scanner" reference design output to UART/COM port. Lattice responded saying that ref design was built with a prev version of Diamond and needs it's "strategy" changed. They have not yet said how to change it.
I'm still not clear if that ref design using the Micro8 or not...
? @Warren: I programmed the I2C SPI Master C demo to see the temperature value displayed on the eval board's LCD and it displays values only on the lcd when I cover the sensor. What would I need to do to see data on the terminal program (Putty)? I have pointed to COM9 which is the port of my usb connection.
Thanks for the advice. I have been doing some review of manufacturer info and more recently performing web searches for discussions on such comparisons but not finding an easy time of sorting through all the "chatter" to get to the kernel of useful info. I will return to the manufacturer sites and start with the basics.
@bangor077- You can program FPGAs in C either for the hardware or for the on-chip MCU. The version of C used for the hardware isn't standard C however, it is a special case for hardware (parallel) implementation.
Xilinx and Altera both have info on using C on their web sites.
I was running the diamond sw with the users guide example " mixed_code_SC counter" with device lcmx02-1200ze. Which synthesis third party tools do not work welll with lattice sw? and what are the common problems?
? Which example project do you recommend as an easy one to start with? Is there one that has a step by step tutorial to get someone unfamiliar with the environment from opening the project to downloading to hardware? I've opened a couple, but not sure where to start.
I bought a Cool Runner board a while back, but had the same problem, so never did anything with it.
@Gbabecki- The best way to compare various manufacturers FPGAs is to look at their web sites and see what types of example and reference designs they provide. This shows you what they think their parts are good for!
@Warren Can you summarize or otherwise point to a good comparison of various manufacturer FPGA families? I know there are differences regarding logic and interconnect architectures, onboard flash vs. RAM program memory, low power claims, onboard peripherals, etc. Worst case I drag out the various datasheets and perform a side-by-side comparison but I thought I would ask if you have some explicit knowledge or good references.
