Doesn't matter how 'rugged' they are, intrusion is still a possibility. Just look at the problems Linksys is having with their routers.

Rugged devices are highly prefered in this types of devices extremely harmful to data and security.

"As well as protecting against hackers, the router is designed to protect against accidental network intrusions." That's the importance of these devices.

That's a great point, Pubudu. That's just what the FBI did with Frank Abagnale, the Catch Me if You Can guy. They hired him to catch guys like himself.

I wouldn't say the bad guys are brave, Pubudu. But I would say they are ruthless.

Point well taken, Pubudu, I am sure it is breach of security policy that is responsible for most plant security failures, and no matter what technology is in place this is key to keeping the network safe from intrusion.

And Rob its seems to be that it's better to hire the bad guys with a good pay than the professionals in order to have a better security.

Yes Elizabeth this is a really good attempt and Ethernet ids a good option to maximize the security.
But it is really important to follow the plant security policy by each and every employee from right top to the bottom in order to have a better security.

That's true, a.saji, but the concern is how damage they can do before they get caught.

@Rob: Exactly but they do not remain like that for long. Each time they try to repeat the bad thing to get into the top will increase their chances of getting caught
