Nice Gadget Freak Review slides. I found the Mini 24-Hour Solar-Powered Greenhouse project quite interesting because of its simple yet effective design. It's amazing what can be accomplished using a few electronic parts to create a practical gadget. Just wondering how effective the charging feature is for this green house system? I'll look into the instructable's link you provided to see if charging state information is available. Again, very nice slides!
I would suggest talking to a health professional if you haven't already. You may just be blessed, or you might have some sinister goings on. My wife still fits into the wedding dress she wore decades ago even eating 0.5kg of cream cheeses a week, where as I have gone up 3-4 sizes on a calorie controlled diet. She is just blessed, but there are a number of things that can be wrong if you are perpetually underweight.

The food scanner sounds like a great idea, my only concern is that it may not be able to do much with the internals of a chocolate bar, ie. I think depending on tranlucency the outer mm or so may be the limits of it's ability. I have to avoide caffeine, I wonder if it can indicate the caffeine concentration in a cup of coffee? a few times I've bought a cup of caffeine free coffe and found it was a live one (palpitations etc.) it would be good to know.
Agree Nadine. I have low blood sugar (HYPOglycemia) and have followed for years the glycemin index of foods. OK, do you carry that around with you, load it on you "smart" phone, etc etc? It would be great to have a device such as the one shown to give you that information BEFORE you eat and feel guilty or pay the consequences of bad decisions.
Compare this idea to the existing technology of the electron scanning microscope, which can analyze any substance and report back its precise chemical composition. I've seen these used to determine metallurgical content of components in electronics, and they typically cost in the $ 100's of thousands of dollars for these sophisticated devices. I have reservations of whether the gadget in this article can effectively do the same thing for food content.
@ Shehan & Pubudu – I think you both were following an assumption that the contact lens is solar powered – Not so. The opening line of the article placed together several different gadgets into a compound sentence that made me think the same thing. Rereading it again more closely, the solar power refers to the third gadget in the article; a greenhouse.
From the photo, it looks as if the circuitry would lie outside the iris, on the "white" of the eye, on the topside of the contact lens; so probably outside the field of vision-? However, I would think that the circuit components would feel scratchy and invasive when blinking.
Good observation, NadineJ. Diabetes runs in my family. My older brother lived a rogue lifestyle, drinking, smoking, eating what he pleased; until he was surprised to learn he had developed diabetes (no surprise to rest of us). Today, however, he is diligent and disciplined in self-administered maintenance of the disease, including both self-monitoring (requires pricking yourself) and self-medicating (requires sticking yourself). I often contemplate, had he envisioned the (obvious) results of his choices as a younger man, the same amount of diligence and discipline at age 25 (making better choices) would have been a far better investment of time & effort with lasting results.
