The combination of Gentle Giant's attention to detail and 3D systems ability to print whatever  comes their way is great for both companies and a very potent combination indeed. Because both of these also have loyal and secure customer segments, they may be taking over many other market segments working as a combined force.

To have a company that can capture even the smallest detail of an object through complex scanning mechanisms and then re-create it and another company that can reproduce these recreations very accurately and in large numbers means that we will be seeing more and better products from 3D systems in the near future.

Good move for growing into strategic markets by purchasing recognized names in the industry.  Seems 3D Systems has a good long range vision of where they want to be and an effective business roadmap for getting there.
