Is it me or does 'Mother' look like the Shmoo the cartoon character? Still, it looks to be a worthwhile gadget for reminding me it's not actually a sidekick for Captain Caveman.

The OneWheel may be worth a broken bone - it looks incredibly fun.  Though it sounds like it will be an easy rider.

I liked how Lauren showed a parallel Gadget Freak device with a CES product. This comparison shows how CES manufacturers, Gadget Freak developers and Makers are looking at the same problems to solve products using technology. This is quite encouraging for the the Maker community as well as myself to submit my Gadget Freak device to the magazine.

How amazingly clever.  I would have done something simplistically silly, like place an ordinary clock near the pool with a flashlight (or even a candle) in front of it.

Is that egg-shaped gadget Mother, Mother-In-Law, or Big Brother?

Isn't it enough that my wife is keeping track of me and reminding me of the next task (before completing the previous one...), that I would voluntarily connect myself to an electronic egg?

CES always has an amazing amount of innovation. From what I heard, however, attendance was down this year due to nasty weather around the country (admittedly, Design News fell victim to that, too). We'll try to pull together more CES stories for you over the next few weeks.
