Thanks, Debera, glad you enjoyed it. 3D printing has been used in aerospace, as well as high-end racecars, for some time, as we described in this 2011 DN article

Its really great to see that 3d printing is also becoming very popular in aerospace. If its becomming popular in aerospace definitely this means that these printers can print heavy machinery as well and are very reliable . But to be frank i feel very much fascinated to hear and watch printers printing aircraft engines, different body organs and so on which few years back was just impossible . We are acheiving which once was  impossible and here it comes that the word impossible itself shows that i am possible .

I read somewhere that there are hospitals where they have collected the 3d printed silicon eye balls, noses ,ears , even dentists are using this technology to its extreme to get different jaws 3d printed . With all these examples we can think where  the technology is going and how far this 3d printing technology will go .

Thanks Anne for such an interesting article . No doubt 3d printing is becomming very popular in medicine these days . They are printing skin and different body organs with the help of 3d printers such as heart liver and so on with such sort of technology patients will not have to wait for a long time to get the organs for transplant .

"Quality assessments of 3D printed parts are being worked on by several different groups and individual organizations, including NASA and GE Aviation in aerospace. Not enough work has been done yet to be able to formalize them into industry standards."

Ann thanks for the clarification and link. Hope further they will take it to industrial standard.

Mydesign, thanks for clarifying your question. Quality assessments of 3D printed parts are being worked on by several different groups and individual organizations, including NASA and GE Aviation in aerospace. Not enough work has been done yet to be able to formalize them into industry standards.
We've also reported on some work on developing materials standards by NASA and the ASTM:

"I understood that you meant quality tests of 3D printed parts. I'm asking what specific ones you are referring to when you wrote "is it testified by any of the apex bodies". Do you mean there are specific tests and you want to know if aerospace companies use them? Or are you wondering if such tests exist? Please clarify so I or someone else can respond."
