MiWi has the option to configure a message forwarding node. The message intended for a sleeping node is captured and stored by the message forwarding node. When the sleeping node wakes up, it polls the message forwarding node for any missed messages.

Chapter 1 gives you a shopping list. Chapter 2 has you doing your first application. Then it's on to sensors and feedback. Amazon lets you read a lot of this book in the "Look inside this book" link.
?? Fred, do you have implementation suggestions for MiWi if you want the nodes to be battery powered and have long life, but need fairly quick response to commands from the controller? Normally you would turn off the receiver and just listen from time to time, but then you might miss a command from the controller.
