Yes, Ralphy Boy, the 155-mph speed should help vehicles, at least among those who can afford a $135,000 car.

i would say the performance brands McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche

coming out with Hybrids means that the Hybrids are positives to performance

despite the body mass

Good point, ChriSharek. We didn't include the three Fords for the same reason that we didn't include the 2014 Volt -- we've written about these vehicles on several previous occasions. In this slideshow, we tried to focus (pardon the pun) on brand new vehicles that haven't hit the road yet and/or haven't been written about by DN previously.

Yes, the Detroit Electric SP:01 is now made in Holland, Chuck_IAG (at least the arly ones are being made there). That's disappointing. Detroit Electric sounded like such a great name, too.

The Holland... I mean Detroit SP:01 will cost $135,000 base and looks a lot like a dune-buggy I owned for a summer way back in my youth. Of course the 155mph may help the sales numbers, but good luck.

Some of these look pretty okay though, so long as price is not too important. Just like most things, the first few are overly expensive.

US could once again Dominate the World Auto Market

The fact is, the US automakers (Tesla included) have the opportunity to dominate the world again in automaking.  They are leading the charge (pardon the pun) in the EV market.

The ELR will be my next car, if Tesla's charisma and lowering pricetag don't win me over.

And Charles, why didn't we include any of the 3 Ford PHEVs and EVs that are coming out next year (Fusion, Focus, and CMAX)?

Detroit Electric... made in Holland.  What does that tell you about the state of affairs in Detroit when even car companies with the city's name in their title don't produce cars there?  US manufacturing is doomed.

I agree, naperlou. Between the McLaren, DeLorean, Detroit Electric SP:01 and Tesla Model X, there are some mighty racy-looking cars in this group.

Sporty electrics

Cap'n, there are some cool sports cars in the slide show.  I wonder how fast the McLaren could go if not electronically limited.  The Detroit Electric reminds me of the Ford GT Mk IV.  Now that seems like a sweet ride.

What makes this movie stand out from the typical high school sports story is that the teenagers are undocumented immigrants, and the big game is a NASA-sponsored marine robotics competition. Like many other Hollywood movies, however, Spare Parts only tells part of the story. What the film shows -- and doesn’t show -- raises important issues affecting STEM education in the US.
Instead of sifting through huge amounts of technical data looking for answers to assembly problems, engineers can now benefit from 3M's new initiative -- 3M Assembly Solutions. The company has organized its wealth of adhesive and tape solutions into six typical application areas, making it easier to find the best products to solve their real-world assembly and bonding problems.
Load dump occurs when a discharged battery is disconnected while the alternator is generating current and other loads remain on the alternator circuit. If left alone, the electrical spikes and transients will be transmitted along the power line, leading to malfunctions in individual electronics/sensors or permanent damage to the vehicle’s electronic system. Bottom line: An uncontrolled load dump threatens the overall safety and reliability of the vehicle.
