Thanks for this look at where future touchscreen technology is headed, Cabe. That looks quite promising and could enable the design of even thinner smart mobile devices. That would be a good thing for sure.

Elizabeth I do agree with you that even thinner smart phones with less weight will do a drastic changes in the world of smart phone. But my problem is then what happens to the battery of the phone?

Cabe, When I was schooling on 1990's I used to carry a big bag with a separate text book and the working book for each and every subject, now only one tablet will be enough, no more copping black board to working books.

I believe that with this flexible thinner touch screen will give a same feeling of writing on a book.

Yes, touch screens are only going to get more popular. In 2011, Cadillac builts its CUE infortainment system around touch screen technology, and now many automakers are following.

I agree this is a great first look.

I enjoy watching the market correct itself.  When tablets first appeared, laptop enthusiasts were skeptical because there was no keyboard.  Tablet lovers called that backwards thinking.

This is a great example of finding the right solution.

This is really promising and will trigger revolutionary changes in UI in mobile devices. This may also help reduce the formfactor of some of the medical devices ( like patient monitors).

This is not a touch screen but a touch surface. A programmable user input interface that is only 0.020" thick.

I found myself thinking about the 'Star Trek:  The Next Generation' television show and movies while reading this...

"Life forms?  I love scanning for life forms.  Life forms.... Tiny little life...forms.... Where...are...you?"

 

Those huge plexiglass consoles with their preprinted patterns really didn't do anything... but what if they could?

Well I suppose the batteries will get thinner as well, Pubudu. There is a lot of research in this area and I am sure the thinner device design will be accomodated by those creating the power supplies as well.

I am waiting for the entirely touchscreen computer! Or maybe it exists already and I just don't know about it? Anyone? (And don't say iPad. Of course I know about that! ;))
