I had an application where an H-bridged motor required a dead stop without resistive limiting. It was destructive and entertaining. The armature would break away from the shaft about once a month...being a motor manufacturer made it rarther inconsequential. My question is breaking with PWM. Would that possibly cause some serious vibration system wide?
I have used the "bottom" of the H-bridge to stop/brake. The cautions about the supply rail increase should be headed. Also, using hte body diodes to handle the reverse current into the rail is dangerous. (Speaking from experience!)
