@tekochip-  It's nice to see Timex taking the initiative to come up with a Smart watch. Sony has put in much effort to come up with this product working with an Android OS.

@NadineJ – I am a big fan of this watch, I saw Sony announcing that the Smart watch 2 will be out very soon with much more features. This is one of the greatest innovations from Sony

I'm not sure that Facetime on a watch wouldn't be a popular app for the smartwatch.  We may see in just the next few months a significant foray by Apple (if rumors are true) and other in this space to offer new solutions. Sould be interesting.  I haven't worn a watch in years.

You're right, Rob. I'm dating myself. Any smartphone is better than Dick Tracy's two-way wrist radio, and probably equal to his two-way wrist TV.

Nancy, don't get me wrong, I think the idea is cool. I just don't think it makes sense for everyone. I do miss the finer detail I could see when I was under 30.

I agree, Ann - I can see just fine with my glasses. But I get really frustrated trying to scroll to get the information I am trying to see on a web page with a phone sized screen - I can't imagine how much more frustrating it would be on a smart watch.

I can envision Greg's comment regarding a camera-phone function since no text would be involved. On the go video-conferencing makes sense and would work with the smaller screen size.

I have the same issue as Nancy with such tiny screens--I can't see anything on them. A t least for me, it's not a matter of wearing glasses, I do wear them. But the images don't resolve into something meaningful.

The funny thing is, Chuck, we might be out future-ing the gadgets of our childhood heros. We've way past Dick Tracy's watch. His watch couldn't check the performance of a factory.

The Dutch are known for their love of bicycling, and they’ve also long been early adopters of green-energy and smart-city technologies. So it seems fitting that a town in which painter Vincent van Gogh once lived has given him a very Dutch-like tribute -- a bike path lit by a special smart paint in the style of the artist's “Starry Night” painting.
