It is also a little sad to have to depend on reviews...in the old days we bought based on a company name and knew it would be a good because our decision was based on a company's reputation which they worked hard to keep. If there was a problem - they would work hard to resolve it - not just provide an automated customer helpline that transfers the caller offshore. Seems like quality and customer service have been sacrificed to the altar of cheaper prices and bigger profit margins.
@Nancy – Yes as you said the best way to make the decision is to check the reviews first, so that we understand what other users faced using the same product. And don't forget to leave your own connect on the product once you buy it.
@Ann- What ? you used it just for a week??? I wonder what's wrong with these manufacturers, why can't they manufacture a good product with a good lifetime. After all, these are all durable goods which are meant to be used at least for 3 years.
@rmorris - I am just wondering if their objective is to manufacture low cost products or give the best products to the customer. I think they are diving to cut costs, hence they cut costs for testing and use low quality components.
