I'd like that fountain for my "Zen" room...hehe. Instead of music use one of those soothing sounds cds.

The toolbox is a big and elaborate gadget, but it is useful. For one thing, it is designed to help move the mechanic through the steps involved in a task. so it goes beyond just a toolbox.

Yes, Bobjengr, the kids are at the point in their lives where they don't have to worry about creating things of immediate value with a market to match.

Tool_maker, thanks for the explanation. It was that plus including my name that made me wonder. Sometimes it's not clear who's replying to what, especially when the discussion gets fast and furious.

Ann. It was merely that you responded in the stream that included reference to hackers. Sorry if I included you inappropriately.

Tool_maker, I'm not sure which post you're replying to, but most of the discussion here about young people and mentoring has to do with engineering, not hacking. And I'm not sure why you replied to my comment here, since I didn't say anything in this comments stream about hackers.

@ Jim, Nancy & Ann. What makes you think hackers and those that create a virus do so only because they lack mentoring? I have no supporting statistics, but I believe some people exist whose soul purpose in life is to gain notoriety. We see some doing insane stunts on You Tube, others who shoot up a school or theater and I think the virus writers are cut from the same cloth. If only we could channel their creativity to something beneficial to mankind is a pipe dream. Their goal is to not only be famous, but feared and notorious. Evil people do exist.

I agree Far911. But recently, I'm seeing more and more recycle bins that take everything. They must have an army of sorters at the recycle facility.

I agree, Nancy, it would be good to see some of these gadgets build by students come to market. While it's not true in evewry case, many of these student gadgets are desgned to solve real problems.
