ANT+ can be used - just isn't supported in 11073 like Zigbee BUT you can make it work as long as it provides the elements required in ZigBee HC and in 11073 comms
Amansano - I have worked in just what you ask - energy harvested or passive transponder RFID. I have put sensors buried in areas for years, running off of vibration. Once we have a working path (OSI layers 1-4) we can add the protocol!
Charles, suppose there is a need for wireless sensors powered by wireless energy harvesting (battery-less). These devices would not be able to power BT/LE communication. Thus, new standards/technologies of communication should be developed. How would the medical market see this new standard/technology? How can this new technology enter this conservative market?

One problem with tablets is that they are hard to hold and not drop them. I have seen some holders online that look like they would be more ergonomic, not to advertise any specific one, but this one looks interesting http://www.handeholder.com/ There are many others in a search for "iPad holder."

Although it seems the ideal interface for our Aggregate (data collector), I have seen some pushback to the use of tablets from users? Is anyone else designing with tablets as collection devices for home healthcare? Android or iPad?
There is some very interesting work being done at USC in Los Angeles on the use of robots to assit people who have suffered a stroke, that helps them to motivate patients to exercise parts of the body that need reabilitation. Such work imply the robots talking with the patient and reminding them about some of the work that they need to do. For instance the robot ask the patient to lift something with the left hand to reactivate that neural connections in that part of the body and not only rely on the movil part of the body. In some instances they have sensors that avoid the possibility of cheating
to person with audio cut-off problems - I had that several times today & yesterday; just try re-hitting the PLAY button; may take several times; eventually it got me on the audio stream & it continued successfully

I continued to monitor the chat posts after the seminar yesterday, watching for replies to questions, but saw none. I presume thus that the replies from the speaker were private to the individual questioner. But why? Can the replies be pubicaly posted and veiwable by all?
