That's quite a geographical restriction, Markthebowlr. That makes a big difference.

Pubudu,

Education has always been a business. In fact, a racket at times. I hope that employers would take these courses seriously.

As it sits now, I would not want to hire someone based on the # of online courses they took. I can't trust they actually took them. I am sure the concept will get fleshed out over time.

Cabe, Nice interesting article. To obtain additional information about Firebrand and the lottery training, what's their url address?

Rob I agree this lottery approach to training is quite interesting. With products becoming more networked and information being at risk, IT Security is definitely needed. Nice article Cabe!

Cabe now the education has become a business. So many of the service providers are in the education market. There are many certificate courses and degrees programs in the market which will give a two three letters after the course but no ingredients at all. What about this course.

Exactly  Rob, this will be a interesting lottery.

And on the other hand they are doing a well planed and well targeted advertising campaign for their potential target group in a very silence way.

Now certification is offered by many companies in many domains like Cisco's CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert), Red Hat's RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)... Is there any guidelines to choose the best certification, best company?

It would seem that Firebrand should place restrictions on their lottery with entries given to those with little to no IT training at all. Otherwise I agree with Rob in that the winner could already have significant training in their respective field making the lottery kind of a moot point.
