Application engineers from distributors are also a great resource to help develop recent engineering graduates.  Application engineers typically have many years of experience and are exposed to best-practice techniques from many different companies.  Working with an AE can greatly help accelerate the learning curve.

Nice article, Chuck. Distributors have known for many years that they'll get the order if they help the design engineer get the most out of a collection of components. The recent award-winning series of online classes from Digi-Kay and Design News is just one of hundreds of examples of distributors helping engineers.
