@Cabe: Honestly I do not see twitter as a promising media for promoting any professional thing.

If I would be given a chance to decide on how to use social media to make professional decisions / promotions, I would scrap off all the social media we have right now except LinkedIN and make things more professional.

I suppose twitter could be seen as a way to promote some product. I use it to give links to articles I write, but that is essentially a product too. At least the tweet is only 160 characters and not in your face everywhere you go. You do have the option to not read or even look at the words.

FB is packed with social comments, people's lives, and their adventures. All of which, I avoid reading. Is that not pure social networking? I know companies put product updates on FB too, but sometimes it is worth looking at or reading. Especially if you want the item.

How would you like to see social used? Perhaps, I can not see another use.

"Social is all about ad revenue, promotion for more sales, the tried and true. But, why do you feel like it has no merit?"

@Cabe: My point is that as long as social media is being served with a purpose rather than just to gain money would be more valued especially by the professionals. Right now take FB or Twitter. What professionalism or purpose does it carry for the society ? Nothing other than flirting and promoting unwanted items or services. It may be used for fun purposes but if you can generate fun with some purpose and value, then it will be more appreciated.

This is just a way to give the public avenues for sharing video. Instagram is a perfect example of a popular social platform becoming mainstream. AutoDesk is just trying the exact same thing, but with video.

Social is all about ad revenue, promotion for more sales, the tried and true. But, why do you feel like it has no merit?

I have nothing against this app or any other app but I feel that doing something with social media is useless right now. It has no business value plus is less professional. Look at how they approach towards the users ? It does not carry any professionalism at all. So if you are to do an App for some sort of a commercial value, do not target social media
