Later this week,  the inagural International Connected Vehicles Conference (www.iccve.org) will get underway. Experts from across the globe, including former US. Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta, will be gathering to discuss the issues related to implementing a more connected means of transportation (commercial and public). The topics range from designing the vehicles themselves to the enabling systems and the infrastructure itself. 

What are your throughts on the wireless technologies available today that are necessary to enable connectivity from trains/busses/planes, boats and individual vehicles?  What is working and wha needs improvement?  How about your thoughts in standards: those that are available and those that may need to be created?
