@pauln, @apdobaj - the one I use is simply called WiFi Analyzer by Kevin Yuan, it is available on the google play site for free. I find it very useful for debugging friends wifi issues.
Firstheck the microwave seal - there are some monitors that provide this information to determine if it is still good or not.
If it is then proceed below. 1) if you have an android or ios device - use one of their WiFi analyzers to see where your microwave oven is transmitting (microwave has to be on)
2) if it is transmitting on the lower or upper channels, you can simply go in to the router/access point configuration and change the channel to one that is not impacted. This usually can fix the problem.
3) if you can't do that, you can check to see if your wifi devices support the 5GHz range and change the router/access point to use that band.
Budget is like listing all you expenses and incomes(gains and losses). Margin is the line in your budget were you say how much cash you will keep on hand( how much more signal than the minimum)
You say that 802.11 signals effectively raise noise floor for a 802.15 system. Do you know of any studies or references on this that quantify this effect? Thanks.
I believe that receiving in these systems involves a lot of digital signal processing, which might be where the power goes. But again, I'm just a software guy...
