From the earlier post from eia.gov regarding lighting use and power consumption 101 BILLION kWh in the US (2001) the need for power efficient lighting becomes clearer. LED's are one possible mechanism to introduce power savings.

Lighting includes both indoor and outdoor lighting and is found in virtually every household in the United States. In 2001, lighting accounted for 101 billion kWh (8.8 percent) of U.S. household electricity use. Incandescent lamps, which are commonly found in households, are highly inefficient sources of light because about 90 percent of the energy used is lost as heat. For that reason, lighting has been one focus of efforts to increase the efficiency of household electricity consumption.

MLCC is multi-layer ceranic capacitors. More advanced tech and cost more, for very high voltage, 500V. So unless you need it, I'd ignore it.
I was just trying to say that one way to find what you need is by trial and error. Don't be afraid to try something and play around. You'll probably learn something along the way.
Wouldn't you normally use metal pad package for high powered LED? Don't you need that for thermal management?
Well, since cost is critical these days for everything, you start with cheaper. In my experience it's usually not needed. The IC doesn't usually get that hot. Try to pick an MOSFET with low gate current. Also if the IC is in a hot environment, like automotive.
Carol, great that you showed how to find parts and datasheets on the Digikey website. I don't keep data book anymore. This one website has all I need to find a part, application notes from the manufacturer and usually in-stock for my needs.
Rob -- just so you know, when the "radio" automatically connects at the beginning of the lecture, you are already into your introduction. You may want to wait 5-10 seconds after you "turn on the audio feed" before you begin your actual introduction.

It's not a browser problem, per se, it's an Adobe Flash version problem. -- If you've upgraded to Flash 11.4, you'll have problems. Right click on the Flash player to check its version number. Browsers still using Flash 11.3 are working for this webinar; those at 11.4 are not working.
I think we all should check all the software dependencies before hand and avoid crying for help DURING the session... All the messages just flood the page, making it difficult to read other stuff..
